Cool Jazz (Workshop)

Come and join Tim Knowles and Tim Steemson for a week of guided jazz improvisation sessions.

The Tims will take you through some well known jazz standards and help you develop those much needed improvisation skills. This class feeds into the regular monthly jazz nights at the Queen’s Hall Exchange Café so if you want to be able to join in and play in public then this is the place to start.

Hello to all supporters of Hexham Jazz Club

Our next Jazz Night is on Thurs March 10th, 8pm at the Exchange Cafe, Queens Hall, Hexham.

We’re delighted to present the Roz Sluman Quartet-  Roz on saxes, Nick Rimmer keyboards, Kenny Reed drums, Hazel Hanley bass, and with guest Pete Hoban vocals. Expect song and instrumental standards,  played with vigour.  Roz is hugely accomplished professional musician and teacher, and her playing is always exciting and uplifting.  To hear for yourself, click on the youtube link below to hear most of  the band at Lanercost last year, playing with the legendary Pee Wee Ellis and Gareth Williams.

Dead Cat Bounce – Live

Hexham based 5 piece, Dead Cat Bounce are performing live at the Tap and Spile in Hexham on Thursday  28th October. The band features the song writing and vocal and guitar skills of Milly Garrow-Smith with Ken Compson on Guitars and Vocals, George Hutton on Drums, James Eeedle on Tenor Saxophone and James Clegg on Bass. They are fast gaining a reputation for original and stylish songs using a variety of musical styles in their arrangements. Check them out this Thursday.
