April Workshops
Ukulele for Children & Parents
Saturday 4 April – 10.00 -12.00
 
With Ian Brown we will be learning a little more about our instrument so that we use common terms that we all understand. We will also be learning:

By the end of the session we aim to be able to use chords within a range of songs and to play some simple tunes together while having a sing-a-long

Sound Recording & Editing
Saturday 18 April – 10.00-12.00
Award-winning producer and songwriter Jude Connelly will talk about the pros and cons of modern technology with regard to the common or garden home studio - as well as demo-ing some of his own recording work for a Q & A session.
This workshop will concentrate on sound recording and editing using Logic & Reason software and there'll be tips on quick and easy sonic solutions i.e. how to make the best of your recording environment on a limited budget. Helpful tips on running sessions, and the role of an engineer/producer. If time allows, there will be an opportunity to try recording some instruments and cover some mic configurations and placements.
£10.00 / £7.00 concessions

Chanting Workshop
Thursday 23 April – 7.30 – 9.00pm

For all ages and abilities, this is an invitation to play freely with your voice and this workshop aims to help you explore your voice and find your heartsong

Rhythm Day
Saturday 25 April 10.00 – 4.30

10.00 – 12.00 – Andy Booth
A workshop incorporating a rhythm work-out using hands & feet or broomsticks; pulse development using drumsticks and putting together a groove – all done using a variety of percussion instruments
 
12.30 – 2.30 – Modou Mané
Modou Mané is a talented and passionate musician from Senegal who has a wealth of knowledge of traditional rhythms and songs.  He is a versatile musician, singer and teacher with a fun and engaging style and is dedicated to preserving and sharing his vibrant musical heritage. Forget the winter blues and learn some exciting West African percussion!
 
2.30 – 2.30 – Sambistas
Three experienced Sambistas, Math Ross, Annie Ward & Andy Brook, will help to generate a carnival vibe at Core Music. You will have the opportunity to play a range of very loud authentic Brazilian drums (provided) and very quickly play some sunny samba reggae rhythms to impress the whole of Hexham - yes, that loud! No experience necessary. In true carnival style this workshop will be held outside. Spectators welcome - so bring a friend to dance along.
